Marla Berger conducts Equine Assisted Psychotherapy and is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and a Registered Art Therapist. She has been working in the field of mental health since 1990. Marla is a proponent of experiential techniques, including art therapy, sand-tray therapy, play therapy, and equine assisted psychotherapy. She has given lectures, workshops, and in-service trainings to promote education and involvement in this field. A lifelong horse lover, she has been actively involved in equine assisted activities since 1992. These have included the Equestrian Special Olympics and North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA) facilities. This led to her providing Equine Assisted Psychotherapy through the Equine Assisted Growth And Learning Association (EAGALA) and Equine Facilitated Mental Health Association (EFMHA). Marla’s association with these organizations have expanded her practice and allowed her to collaborate with some remarkable horses.
