About The Event

Resistant clients are often overwhelming and frustrating to work with.  Our sense of safety, competence and abilities can take a hit while trying to support them through growth and change.  This workshop will focus on building in playful and hands-on interventions to help even the hardest child, tween or teen (and even adults!) dealing with resistance to therapy services.  Participants will learn, practice and create their own unique voice in helping clients become unstuck.  Art, play and sandtray therapy techniques will be shared.  This workshop will build on the foundations of CCPT and directive approaches.  This workshop will provide 6 CONTACT APT CE's (2 CE's Seminal or Historically Significant Theories and 4 CE's Skills & Methods).

By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the core issues that frequently cause resistance in children, tweens and teens
  • Define three ways to provide regulation and co-regulation within the session
  • Name the theoretical underpinning from CCPT that decreases resistance
  • Understand the theoretical basis for CCPT and directive de-escalation and anger management techniques
  • Facilitate anger, resistence and non-compliance through role play activities
  • Incorporate ways to on-board guardians to help with compliance in the session and at home

Location: This workshop will be located at Berger Counseling Services' office in Coral Springs and limited to 15 participants. Your spot will not be guaranteed without completion of registration with payment. This  will be a  LIVE, in-person workshop. Participants must attend the entire presentation and will be awarded  CONTACT CE's upon successful completion of the workshop.
