Step Up Scholarship Process

Berger Counseling Services is proud to offer a easier way to access high quality therapy services through the Step Up Scholarship.  We are a Direct Billing Provider – The Step Up Scholarship will pay us directly.  We so require a credit card to be on file in case the funds for Step Up are not sufficient to cover services rendered.   

Individual and Family Therapy Services begin with a free, 15-minute meet & greet with the chosen clinician to ensure a good fit. Afterwards, paperwork will be sent to be completed electronically.  At that point, please purchase the following items from the catalog:

• A two-hour intake session - During our intake session, we will focus on a thorough history taking, understanding what and how we can help support your or your family towards change, and the creation of goals.

• A least one 50-minute therapy session.

Group Services begin with a pre-registration followed by a phone call by the group facilitator.  If your child is a fit for the group, paperwork will be sent to be completed electronically.  At that point, the group facilitator will instruct you on which catalog number to purchase.  A free, 15-minute meet & greet will be scheduled for the group members prior to the start date.

Psychotherapy & Counseling includes a variety of modalities, including incorporating art, play, sandtray, equine assisted psychotherapy* and traditional talk therapy techniques.  Each practitioner has a specific skillset and credentials to provide services.

Art Therapy is provided only by Registered Art Therapists as denoted by ATR or ATR-BC

*Equine Assisted Psychotherapy is provided by Eagala, PATH INT’L ESMHL or Natural Lifemanship Trained clinicians.  Equine Assisted Psychotherapy services are focused on building communication skills, executive functioning, regulation, connection and relationships.  The services are on the ground – there is no riding component.  Step Up has a Horse Therapy/Equine Therapy catalog item, however Berger Counseling Services is not a PATH Therapeutic Riding Center and not eligible to use these funds.  Equine Assisted Psychotherapy falls under Psychotherapy & Counseling.
